Liaison interpreting

Liaison interpreting essentially works in exactly the same way as consecutive interpreting. However, the speeches or sections thereof should be shorter than with consecutive interpreting.

Sometimes, the interpretation is done on a sentence-by-sentence basis with the language being interpreted changing every time. This type of interpreting is well-suited to negotiations, where the various negotiating partners perhaps need to be able to react quickly.

Liaison interpreting is often used for business negotiations, contract agreements, notary meetings, etc., meaning that generally speaking it is ideal for discussions in small groups.
